Introduction: What is Tokyo Marui?
Tokyo Marui is a Japanese airsoft manufacturer that has been the gold standard of the industry since the early 1990s. They produce airsoft replicas across the full range of platforms – gas blowback pistols, gas blowback rifles, Next-Generation Recoil Shock electric rifles (NGRS), high-cycle AEGs, and spring-powered bolt-action sniper rifles – and they are widely regarded as the most consistent and best-engineered airsoft manufacturer in the world.
For UK skirmishers, Tokyo Marui kit is the de facto premium choice. Browse the current Tokyo Marui range at Airsoft Direct.
Most popular types of Tokyo Marui airsoft guns
Tokyo Marui’s range falls into five families. Each one solves a different problem on the field:
- Tokyo Marui Pistols – Hi-Capa, Glock, M&P, Mk23 SOCOM, Desert Eagle. Gas blowback pistols are TM’s most-respected category.
- Tokyo Marui NGRS – Next-Generation Recoil Shock electric rifles. M4A1, MK18, HK416A5, AK74MN.
- Tokyo Marui GBBR – M4A1 MWS, MK18 MWS, AKX, AKM. Gas blowback rifles for milsim authenticity.
- Tokyo Marui Sniper Rifles – VSR-10 and VSR-ONE bolt-action snipers.
- Tokyo Marui Upgrade Parts – Laylax, Nine Ball, Maple Leaf parts that drop straight into TM platforms.
Tokyo Marui Electric Rifles (AEG & NGRS)
Tokyo Marui’s AEG range splits into two tiers: standard AEGs (like the Spetsnaz, M16A1 Vietnam, Mod.M) and Next-Generation Recoil Shock rifles, which add a dummy bolt carrier that cycles backwards on every shot for real-firearm feel. NGRS is the closest an AEG gets to a real firearm – with consistent shot-to-shot accuracy, electric reliability in any UK weather and a deep aftermarket support.

Tokyo Marui Airsoft Pistols
The TM pistol range is the deepest and most respected in airsoft. The Hi-Capa platform is the universal custom-build pistol – every Laylax, Nine Ball and Maple Leaf upgrade part is designed around it. The Glock range (G17 Gen 3, G17 Gen 4, G18C, G19, G22, G34) fits real-steel Glock holsters and is the modern law-enforcement impression default. And the Mk23 SOCOM is still the quietest pistol in airsoft.

Tokyo Marui Gas Blowback Rifles (MWS, AKX, AKM)
The M4 Workhorse System (MWS) is TM’s gas blowback rifle platform – mag-fed gas, real bolt cycling, hammer-strike valve. It is the most realistic-feeling airsoft rifle on the market. For Eastern-bloc impressions, the AKX and AKM gas blowback rifles deliver the same authentic experience on the AK platform.

Tokyo Marui Sniper Rifles
The VSR-10 has been the foundation of airsoft sniping for over 25 years and is still the platform every aftermarket sniper part is designed for. The newer VSR-ONE is TM’s modular, chassis-stock successor. Both are spring-powered bolt-action – cold-weather reliable, no gas concerns.
