CTSFO Airsoft Loadout Guide — UK Counter Terrorism Police Kit

The CTSFO (Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officer) is the UK’s elite armed police unit, deployed to the highest-threat incidents including terrorist attacks, armed sieges, and major organised crime operations. Their distinctive all-black kit — balaclavas, plate carriers, Heckler & Koch firearms — makes the CTSFO one of the most replicated and recognised loadouts in UK airsoft mil-sim.

CTSFOs are upgraded from AFO (Authorised Firearms Officer) or SFO (Specialist Firearms Officer) status and are drawn from Metropolitan Police and other regional forces. They deploy with a standard set of weapons: the Heckler & Koch G36C or HK417 as the primary, the G17 Gen 4 or SFP9 as the sidearm, and the MP5SF for specialist roles. Their kit is characterised by minimalism — clean black plate carriers with minimal extraneous equipment, and an emphasis on functionality over aesthetics.

For airsoft players, the CTSFO loadout is appealing precisely because of this simplicity. It does not require obscure or expensive items — a good black plate carrier, an appropriate primary weapon replica, and attention to the details that make the loadout authentic are all you need.

Essential CTSFO Airsoft Kit

• Primary: HK G36C or MP5 — CTSFOs are most commonly photographed with the G36C and, in specialist roles, the MP5SF. Airsoft equivalents: ARES G36C, Tokyo Marui MP5A3/SD3. The HK416 is increasingly associated with CTSFO as well, following SAS adoption.

The CTSFO are police — everything is black, everything is civilian agency rather than military. The SAS loadout is more complex to put together accurately; the CTSFO is more accessible and immediately recognisable. Both make compelling mil-sim identities and work well at UK sites.
