The Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa is the most-modified, most-loved, most-stolen-from gas blowback pistol platform in airsoft. - The Hi-Capa is the airsoft version of the STI/Staccato 2011 race pistol — a wide-frame, double-stack 1911 derivative.

What is a Hi-Capa?
The Hi-Capa is Tokyo Marui’s high-capacity 1911 platform. Real-world it’s a competition pistol (think IPSC, USPSA, 3-gun); in airsoft it’s the universal donor for custom GBB builds. Wider grip, longer slide on the 5.1, fully ambidextrous safety, beavertail grip safety, fibre-optic front sight on most variants. Internals are TM’s well-proven Hi-Capa gas system, which has been refined over twenty years.

Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 5.1 (Standard / Government)

Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 5.1 Stainless Steel
The silver/two-tone variant. Looks the part for competition impressions and stands out on a kit photo. Mechanically identical to the standard 5.1.
Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa Blue Match GBBP
Match-grade trigger and barrel in a striking blue two-tone finish. Site-legal in two-tone, ideal as a pre-UKARA first GBB. In stock at Airsoft Direct.
Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 4.3
The Commander-size frame — shorter slide and barrel for snappier cycle, easier holstering, less weight. Same internals as the 5.1, just compressed. The 4.3 Duel Stainless is the Blue variant we currently stock: Hi-Capa 4.3 Duel Stainless (Blue). There’s also a Hi-Capa 4.3 GBB (Blue) standard variant.
Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa Gold Match
The flagship competition variant — gold accents, match-grade trigger and barrel, often supplied with upgraded fibre-optic sights from the factory. Best straight-out-of-the-box trigger feel of any Hi-Capa.
Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa Custom variants (Limited, Karui-Kun, etc.)
TM occasionally drops limited Hi-Capa variants (anime tie-ins like Lycoris Recoil, special-edition slides, etc.). They use the same base, so the upgrade path is identical — they’re cosmetic differentiators, not mechanical ones.
Which Hi-Capa should you buy?
- Pre-UKARA first GBB → Hi-Capa Blue Match. Two-tone legal, match-grade trigger out of the box.
- Custom-build base → Hi-Capa 5.1 Standard. Every part fits.
- Concealed carry / holster impression → Hi-Capa 4.3. Easier to draw, cleaner draw line.
- Competition / IPSC impression → Hi-Capa Gold Match.
- Just want the most striking pistol on the field → Hi-Capa 5.1 Stainless or one of the limited custom variants.
Upgrade path — what to buy next
The Hi-Capa is a custom platform. Most owners upgrade in this order:
- Inner barrel + hop bucking — Maple Leaf or Nine Ball bucking, 6.02 tightbore inner barrel. Single biggest accuracy upgrade.
- Recoil spring — match to your gas pressure and ambient temperature.
- Loading nozzle / piston head — for crisper cycling.
- Trigger — Maxx CNC triggers (we stock the Maxx CNC Advanced Speed Trigger in multiple styles).
- Magazines — at least three for a working skirmish loadout.

UK skirmish & site notes
- The Hi-Capa platform is a RIF — UKARA defence required for the realistic finishes; two-tone variants exempt.
- Typical Hi-Capa FPS out of the box: 280–320 FPS with 0.20g on green gas. Inside most CQB 330 FPS limits.
- Cold-weather performance drops noticeably below ~5°C. Carry warm magazines in winter games.
- Gas: green gas / propane. Don’t use CO2 in a TM Hi-Capa unless explicitly converted — the magazine is not rated for it.
FAQ
Q: Hi-Capa 5.1 or 4.3 for CQB? 4.3 — snappier cycle, easier holstering in tight quarters.
Q: Can I use a Glock holster? No — Hi-Capa frames are wider. Use a 1911-pattern holster or a Hi-Capa-specific one.
Q: How many mags do I need? Three minimum for a skirmish day, four if you’re shooting fast.
Q: What gas? Green gas (propane). Some HPA conversions exist but most players stick with gas mags.
Q: Is it worth upgrading or should I just buy the Gold Match? If you’re going to spend more than £100 on upgrades, buy the Gold Match instead — better starting point.
